Ukraine Outsmarts Russian Tech—Pantsir-S1 Taken Out in Drone Strike, Video

Ukrainian drone operators have successfully taken out a Russian Pantsir-S1 air defense system in the Kharkiv region, according to a video released on July 11 by the 429th Separate Unmanned Systems Battalion “Achilles.”
The Russian self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun system, valued at approximately $14 million, was struck during a targeted drone operation deep behind enemy lines.
“Pantsir-S1 is a hostile air defense system worth around $14 million. Not a bad cashback on our drone investments, wouldn’t you say?” the unit wrote in a statement accompanying the combat footage.
In addition to the Pantsir, Ukrainian drone pilots also destroyed a Russian tank, an armored personnel carrier (APC), and another armored fighting vehicle, the unit reported.
The Pantsir-S1 (NATO codename: SA-22 Greyhound) is a highly mobile short-to-medium-range air defense system designed to intercept a wide array of aerial threats, including drones, helicopters, low-flying aircraft, and cruise missiles.

It combines twin 30mm cannons with a battery of 12 ready-to-fire 57E6 surface-to-air missiles. Its advanced radar-optical targeting suite enables it to engage multiple targets simultaneously within a 20-kilometer radius and at altitudes of up to 15 kilometers.
Earlier, Russia had delivered a Pantsir-S1 mobile air defense system and advanced electronic warfare equipment to North Korea.
The transfer, including jamming systems, signals a significant escalation in the growing strategic alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang.
