Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,260 Troops, 65 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia lost an estimated 1,260 troops, 65 artillery systems, and three tanks over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on September 5.

According to the latest Ukrainian military figures, Russia’s total personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,495,050.

Russian forces also lost one armored combat vehicle over the latest reporting period, bringing cumulative losses to 12,328 tanks and 25,273 armored combat vehicles.

Artillery losses climbed to 49,227 systems after another 65 were recorded over the past day. Ukraine also reported five additional Russian multiple-launch rocket systems lost, bringing the total to 2,093, while estimated air defense system losses remained unchanged at 1,604.

Russia’s estimated aviation losses also remained unchanged at 441 aircraft and 355 helicopters. The General Staff reported another 13 unmanned ground systems lost over the past day, raising the cumulative figure in that category to 2,502.

Another 1,898 operational-tactical UAVs were recorded as lost during the latest 24-hour period, bringing Russia’s total to 499,809.

Russia’s other estimated losses stand at 5,070 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, two submarines, 144,043 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,644 pieces of special equipment. Another 401 vehicles and fuel tankers and eight pieces of special equipment were recorded as lost over the past day.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian and Russian forces clashed 236 times across the front during the latest reporting period, with the Pokrovsk sector seeing the heaviest fighting. Russian forces launched 40 attacks there, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.

Earlier, on September 3, Ukraine’s Navy struck the Russian multipurpose support vessel NEFRIT with a naval drone in the port of Sochi. The ship was used to support offshore oil and gas operations and other maritime logistics linked to Russia’s war economy.
