Ukrainian Film Producer and Defender Stanislav Prytula Killed in Combat
On January 22, Stanislav Prytula, a Ukrainian film producer and Chair of the Public Council at the State Film Agency of Ukraine, was killed in action while defending his country. The news was confirmed by the agency and his wife, Larysa Tytarenko.
Stanislav Prytula, born on April 30, 1984, in Kyiv, was an accomplished professional in the film industry. He graduated from the Kyiv National Linguistic University and held key roles in the State Film Agency and the FAMILY Production company.
Prytula was recognized for his dedication to advancing Ukrainian cinema. At the onset of the full-scale invasion, he volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine, demonstrating unwavering commitment to his homeland.
The State Film Agency described Prytula as “not only an artist but a person of exceptional integrity, deeply committed to his work and the values he held dear.” In an official statement, the agency expressed profound sorrow, highlighting Prytula’s contributions to Ukrainian culture and his sacrifice for the country’s future.
Larysa Tytarenko shared the news of her husband’s death in a heartfelt message, describing his courage and dedication. She reflected on the challenges of wartime and the enduring impact of Prytula’s choices, urging others to honor his memory by making principled decisions in their own lives.
The Ukrainian Guild of Directors also issued a statement, emphasizing the loss of a figure closely tied to the future of Ukrainian cinema and the country’s cultural identity. Guild Chair Zhanna Maksymenko-Dovhych noted Prytula’s courage and sense of responsibility, which led him to the front lines from the very beginning of the invasion.
