Ukrainian Forces Pull Back From Unfavorable Positions on Donetsk Frontline to Save Lives

Ukrainian forces are withdrawing from one section of the frontline in the Donetsk region to preserve the lives of soldiers, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev stated in a Facebook post on March 18.
“The most important priority for the command is to protect the lives and health of our personnel. That’s why, in one sector of the frontline, a decision was made to withdraw forces and equipment from unfavorable positions,” Naiev wrote.
“This not only allowed us to preserve our troops but also strengthen our defensive lines. The enemy is taking losses, and we now have the ability to act more effectively.”
The Lieutenant General stated that this is the second month of his commanding a tactical group holding the line in one of the sectors of the Donetsk region
“Among them are those who have been fighting since 2014, as well as those who joined in 2022 or later. Each soldier has their own journey and their own experience. But they are all united by one goal — the desire to bring Victory closer,” he said.
Naiev added that over the past month, due to the coordinated efforts of intelligence officers, drone operators, artillery crews, mortar teams, tank units, and infantry, more than 30 pieces of Russian armored equipment and over 2,000 Russian troops have been eliminated.
“This has significantly reduced the number of enemy assaults in our sector,” Naiev concluded.
On March 16, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the withdrawal of Ukraine’s Defense Forces from the city of Sudzha in Russia’s Kursk region to take up more strategically advantageous positions along the eastern border of Ukraine.
