In his evening video address, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively pushing Russian troops out of the Kharkiv region. The statement followed discussions with Chief Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

“We are gradually pushing the Russian army out. The occupier will not conquer Kharkiv. They will not conquer all of our Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated. The President highlighted that today, August 23, marks Kharkiv Day, describing it as a “heroic city.” He also noted that since early May, Ukrainian forces have successfully repelled Russia’s attempts to advance on Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region.

On August 22, the Third Separate Assault Brigade launched a counterattack in the Kharkiv region, taking control of certain areas and advancing approximately two square kilometers into the front line near the border of Kharkiv and Luhansk regions.

In his address, Zelenskyy also discussed the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ukraine, where they talked about the war with Russia and support for international law. “This visit is important to us, and we are grateful for the humanitarian aid from India,” Zelensky said.

The President emphasized the crucial need for timely delivery of defense resources from international partners, noting that “timely supply is key at the moment.”
