“The Kupiansk operation proves that it's possible to successfully stop and destroy the enemy,” says colonel Igor Oboliensky, commander of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Khartiia.” pic.twitter.com/QZ7whB4MsP
The brigade released video footage of the flag-raising and confirmed that the operation was carried out under the leadership of the 2nd Corps.
Troops from the Reconnaissance and Strike Group of the 4th Battalion, Khartia Brigade led the assault and successfully secured the city center. Ukrainian forces say they are now completing the clearance of remaining Russian units from Kupiansk.

“The Khartia Brigade has established control over the Kupiansk City Council building. The Search-and-Strike Group 'Khartia' and the Tactical Group 'Kupiansk' are finalizing the cleanup of the city, which was liberated during a successful operation under the command of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard,” the statement read.
Colonel Ihor Obolenskyi, commander of the 2nd Corps, emphasized the strategic value of the operation and praised the professionalism of Ukrainian forces:
“The Kupiansk operation proves that with proper planning, trained commanders and staff, and well-prepared units—everything we call the ‘Khartia method’—we can effectively stop and eliminate the enemy.”
A GoPro video from soldiers of the 4th Battalion captured dramatic frontline footage of the assault and the flag-raising over the city hall.

Kupiansk, a key city in the Kharkiv region, had previously been claimed twice by Russian forces in official reports to Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Its re-liberation underscores Ukraine’s ability to reclaim and hold strategically important territories despite continued Russian aggression.
“Kupiansk was and will remain a Ukrainian city. We hold the line!” the National Guard message concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has continued for as long as Nazi Germany’s war against the Soviet Union, with Moscow failing to achieve any decisive gains over more than three years.
