Ukrainian Air Assault Forces said units of the 7th Rapid Response Corps struck a Russian attempt to move reinforcements along the Shevchenkove–Pokrovsk logistics route as Moscow sought to build up for an assault on the village of Hryshyne, according to Ukrainska Pravda on January 2.
The corps said Russian forces used more than 30 light vehicles, including motorcycles, buggies, and other motor transport, to try to concentrate additional personnel and equipment.

It said part of the vehicles were destroyed while on the move, including with the use of an M142 HIMARS system, while the remaining vehicles were detected and hit on the southeastern outskirts of Pokrovsk when Russian troops tried to find shelter.
According to the military, Russia’s 76th Air Assault Division was operating in the area.
“The enemy’s objective is to further increase pressure on the northern outskirts of Pokrovsk and, subsequently, to launch an assault on Hryshyne,” Ukrainska Pravda quoted the corps as saying.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine’s Commander‑in‑Chief said Ukrainian troops outmaneuvered and trapped advancing Russian units near Pokrovsk, with heavy fighting shifting the front lines around the town.
