Ukrainian military positions in the village of Urozhayne, Donetsk region, were destroyed as a result of intense attacks and shelling by Russian forces, so the Ukrainian Defense Forces were redeployed in order to save the lives of military personnel.

This was reported by Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for the Khortytsya operational-strategic group of troops, in a commentary to the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

"The Defense Forces, due to the fact that the enemy destroyed almost everything in Urozhayne, withdrew to other positions. A decision was made. To save the lives and health of our servicemen who held the defense there," the speaker said.

Voloshyn emphasized that the Ukrainian military controls the situation in that direction and gives an adequate response to Russian forces. "The enemy, in order to achieve success and some victories in the settlements and villages destroyed by him, suffers considerable losses every day. They constitute not one hundred killed, and the result is a destroyed settlement and a heap of corpses of Russian soldiers around it who will no longer return to their homes," the spokesman stated.

Voloshyn noted that the command took this step, as the positions of the Ukrainian defenders in Urozhayne, as well as the settlement itself, were destroyed as a result of constant, combined and prolonged shelling by Russian forces. "The settlement itself was also practically completely destroyed by enemy shelling. The positions of the Ukrainian defenders were destroyed and keeping the personnel there was a threat to the lives of our military," Voloshyn said.
