Ukrainian Game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Coming to PlayStation 5 After Topping Global Sales

GSC Game World has officially announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the long-awaited Ukrainian survival shooter, will be released for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro in late 2025.

The studio confirmed the expansion of platforms via an official statement on social media, accompanied by a new trailer. While the developers have not disclosed a specific launch date, the release window remains set for the end of the year.

Originally developed as a PC and Xbox Series X|S exclusive, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is a sequel to the cult 2007 title S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, known for its atmospheric setting in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone.

Production of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been significantly affected by Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. GSC Game World, headquartered in Kyiv, was forced to relocate part of its operations abroad for safety, while continuing development under wartime conditions. The project has become a symbol of Ukraine’s resilience in the global gaming industry.

The game is now available for wishlisting on PlayStation, with developers encouraging fans to “stay tuned for signals from the Zone.”

Earlier, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl ranked second on Steam’s global sales chart, behind only the free-to-play Counter-Strike 2. Hours ahead of its release, the Ukrainian-developed title rose to the top position, becoming the best-selling game worldwide on the platform.
