Ukrainian gymnast Illia Kovtun took the 4th place in the men's all-around final round at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris on Wednesday, July 31.

Kovtun scored 15.400 on the parallel bars, the highest score of the day across all events, and was a strong contender for a medal following a 14.700 on the floor exercise. However, China’s Xiao Ruoteng surpassed the Ukrainian on the horizontal bar, leaving no place on the podium for Kovtun.

Kovtun scored 86,185 and was away from the bronze merely by a 0.199 point.

The golden medal was taken by the Japanese athlete Shinnosuke Oka, followed by two Chinese gymnasts, Zhang Boheng and Xiao Ruoteng.

Ukrainian gymnast, Oleh Verniaiev, scored 84.399, placing him in eighth position.

We will still see the Ukrainian gymnasts at the 2024 Olympics, where they will compete in the Men's Apparatus Finals.
