Ukrainian defense intelligence reported that a Russian mobile air defense unit was destroyed in an explosion in the occupied settlement of Kalynove, Luhansk region, on August 22.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense (HUR), the detonation occurred in the courtyard of a residential building where six Russian servicemen and their military vehicles were located.

The Russian troops had been assigned as a mobile air defense group, providing cover for a nearby military repair base of the Russian army. As a result of the strike, two pickup trucks equipped with machine guns and a UAZ vehicle carrying ammunition were destroyed.

HUR confirmed that three Russian servicemen were killed, while two others sustained severe injuries. The intelligence service also stated that the unit involved had previously participated in military operations in Bucha, Kyiv region, in 2022.

Ukrainian intelligence emphasized that accountability for war crimes committed against Ukraine remains a priority and that those involved will face consequences.

Earlier, on August 5, Ukrainian intelligence reported a large-scale special operation near Sumy, where the “Timur” unit and supporting formations killed over 330 Russian troops and wounded more than 550, disrupting enemy logistics and halting their advance.
