The Progress plant produces equipment for aviation and missile control systems, including gyroscopic stabilization devices, autopilots, course indicators, and angular velocity sensors used in flight-navigation systems, Militarnyi wrote.

It is the second reported strike on the facility, according to Exilenova OSINT Telegram channel. The first strike occured on June 6, 2025.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine Strategic Communications Directorate also confirmed the strike.

“In Michurinsk (Tambov Region, Russian Federation), the Michurinsk Progress Plant, a manufacturer of high-tech equipment for aviation and missile systems, was hit. The plant is involved in supplying the Russian Federation’s army,” the The Armed Forces of Ukraine Strategic Communications Directorate wrote in a post on Telegram.

“According to preliminary information, a fire broke out on the factory premises. The results and extent of the damage are being clarified,” the statement added.

This attack is part of Ukraine’s deep-strike campaign, which has significantly impacted Russia’s war economy. In 2025 alone, the Russian oil sector reportedly suffered over $13 billion in total losses, with direct physical damage to facilities exceeding 100 billion rubles ($1.1 billion).

Previously, it was reported that drones had struck Lukoil-Ukhtaneftepererabotka oil refinery in the Russian city of Ukhta, Komi Republic—more than 2,000 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.

Reports stated that residents of Ukhta heard explosions and saw thick smoke rising in the area of the facility. Preliminary information suggested the refinery was targeted by drones.

Reportedly, at least three strike UAVs reached their target.
