The Ukrainian Navy recently launched a missile strike targeting ammunition depots near the Russian-occupied city of Mariupol, as announced in a statement on September 17.

The strike destroyed the storage facilities along with a significant quantity of ammunition that Russian forces had been stockpiling for use against Ukraine, according to the Navy. As a result, both the storage infrastructure and a large amount of ammunition were destroyed.

Mariupol was besieged by Russian troops between February and May 2022, resulting in widespread devastation and thousands of deaths.

Authorities estimate that at least 25,000 people may have been killed during the siege, although the actual figure remains uncertain and could be significantly higher.

Previously, The Ukrainian Navy confirmed the destruction of the Russian railway ferry 'Conro Trader, ' which sank at the 'Kavkaz' port in the Krasnodar region of Russia on August 22, 2024.
