Ukrainian Navy Intercepts Radio Transmission of Russian Su-30SM Crash, Pilots Missing

The Ukrainian Navy's intelligence services intercepted a radio transmission about the loss of contact with a Russian Su-30SM aircraft, which was performing a mission southeast of Zmiinyi Island (Snake Island), according to a post on the official Telegram page of the Ukrainian Navy.
The aircraft is believed to have crashed for unknown reasons.
Currently, the Russian army is conducting a search-and-rescue operation. According to available information, wreckage of the aircraft has been found on the surface of the sea. However, the pilots have not yet been located.
Previously, it was reported that Russia has begun building fortified shelters for its military aircraft at airfields located closest to the Ukrainian border, according to an intelligence update from the UK Ministry of Defense.
The British assessment, published on social media platform X, states that the move comes in response to successful Ukrainian drone strikes targeting Russian airbases in recent months.
Earlier, it was stated that India's long-delayed plan to procure 114 multi-role fighter aircraft under the MRFA (Multi Role Fighter Aircraft) program may end without a competitive tender. Instead, the Indian Air Force is expected to place an order for more Rafale jets from French manufacturer Dassault Aviation.
According to Defense Express on August 14, the decision is driven by operational urgency. With the retirement of its last MiG-21s, India’s combat squadron strength will fall from 31 to 29—well below the estimated requirement of 42.5 squadrons needed to counter both Pakistan and China.
In the past, a report claimed that a Russian Mi-28 attack helicopter was reportedly damaged in a sabotage operation carried out by a Ukrainian partisan on a military airfield in Russia’s Tver region.
According to the Ukrainian resistance movement “National Resistance,” the operation took place at the 344th Combat Training and Retraining Center of Army Aviation, located near the city of Torzhok.
