National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov has arrived in Istanbul, where he will focus on diplomatic efforts aimed at unblocking the process of POW exchanges.

Umerov is scheduled to hold meetings in Turkey to push forward the agreement on POW exchanges, ensuring that Ukrainian citizens are safely returned from captivity.

He emphasized that the clear directive from President Zelenskyy is to bring Ukrainians back home.

Previously, it was reported that Ukraine and Russia are currently only engaged in negotiations on humanitarian matters, specifically concerning the release of prisoners of war. This was stated by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, in an interview with CNN.

When asked whether negotiations between Russia and Ukraine regarding the end of the war are truly taking place, Umerov clarified that discussions are currently limited to humanitarian issues, particularly the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
