Soldiers from Ukraine's 3rd Tank Brigade downed a Russian Orlan reconnaissance drone at a record altitude of 3,620 meters, according to the Ukrainian military.

This took place on September 7 in Kharkiv region. Upon detecting Russian Orlan-10 drone, the Voron missile artillery group swiftly responded to the location, as reported by the 3rd Brigade on Facebook.

The drone's altitude and trajectory were determined with the assistance of Ukrainian border guard units. “One soldier prepared the necessary equipment, while two others began tracking the unmanned aircraft,” the unit explained.

Orlan is a Russian-developed reconnaissance drone commonly used in Ukraine, often for targeting Russian artillery. It has a range of 600 kilometers and can reach altitudes of up to 5,000 meters.

The 3rd Brigade noted that shooting down the drone was particularly challenging due to its high altitude and its constantly changing position and direction.

Ukrainian FPV drones have also been frequently employed to target Russian reconnaissance drones and helicopters.
