US Announces $725 Million Military Aid Package for Ukraine, Including HIMARS Ammo
The United States has unveiled a $725 million defense package to support Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the assistance on Monday, emphasizing the unity of international allies in backing Ukraine’s efforts to protect its sovereignty.
"Today, I am announcing the delivery of $725 million in additional weapons and equipment for Ukraine’s defense. The United States and more than 50 nations stand united with Ukraine," Blinken stated.
The newly announced aid package includes:
Munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS)
Stinger missiles
Munitions for countering unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS)
Munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS)
155mm and 105mm artillery shells
Drones
Non-persistent land mines
Optically guided and wire-guided TOW missiles (tube-launched)
Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems
Small arms and ammunition
Equipment and munitions for demolition work
Equipment to protect critical national infrastructure
Spare parts, support equipment, services, training, and transportation
Blinken reaffirmed the US commitment to Ukraine, noting that this assistance is part of a collective international effort involving over 50 nations. "The United States will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary support to defend itself and protect its people," he said.
Previously, US President Joe Biden discreetly requested Congress to approve an additional $24 billion in aid for Ukraine to bolster Kyiv’s defenses and replenish US military stockpiles before his term ends.
