US Prepares New Military Aid for Ukraine Amid North Korean Military Presence in Russia
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the allocation of a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the coming days amid reports of Russia's involvement North Korean military in its war against Ukraine.
He stated this on October 31 following the meeting in Washington of the ministers of defense and foreign affairs of the United States and South Korea.
The upcoming package is expected to contain artillery, anti-aircraft defense, armored vehicles, ammunition, and other important means.
Blinken stated during the briefing that 8,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to Russia’s Kursk region.
The Secretary of State added that the US discussed options for responding to the actions of the DPRK and Russia with his South Korean colleagues.
On October 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy referenced intelligence reports indicating North Korea’s de facto involvement in the ongoing war, after reports had emerged indicating that more than 20 soldiers were killed near Donetsk due to a missile strike on October 3, including six North Korean officers.
