US Strike Hits Iran’s Second “Pride” Warship—Shahid Soleimani Missile Corvette Damaged

United States forces have struck another Iranian missile corvette belonging to the Shahid Soleimani class, one of the most modern surface combatants operated by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, according to a report by Naval News on March 10.
This time the target appears to have been the lead ship of the class, IRIS Shahid Soleimani, which was anchored near the port of Bandar Abbas, Iran’s main naval hub in the Persian Gulf.

Footage released after the attack suggests the vessel was hit in its stern section, although the ship remained afloat following the strike.
The incident marks the second visually confirmed strike against a vessel of this class, though reports indicate that three ships may have been hit in total.

Earlier reports had already indicated damage to another ship of the same class, the Sayyad Shirazi.
The Shahid Soleimani-class missile corvettes represent one of the most notable steps in the modernization of Iran’s naval forces, particularly within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN).
These vessels reflect Tehran’s efforts to evolve its traditional asymmetric naval strategy, shifting from smaller attack boats toward larger and more heavily armed platforms capable of operating farther from shore.

The lead ship of the class entered service in 2022, and Iran has since built several additional vessels in the series, including Hassan Bagheri, Shahid Sayyad Shirazi, and Shahid Rais-Ali Delvari.
The Shahid Soleimani-class vessels are catamaran-style missile corvettes designed to combine speed, firepower, and long operational range.
Key characteristics include about 600 tons of displacement, roughly 65 meters in length, and about 14.5 meters in beam.

Ships propulsion system consists of four diesel engines, which allow it to reach around 32 knots (36,8 mph). The ship’s operational range is about 5,000 nautical miles (roughly 9,300 kilometers).
The ships are heavily armed for their size and can carry a wide range of weapons, including:
1 × 30 mm automatic cannon;
6 × 20 mm guns;
6 × anti-ship cruise missiles (four long-range and two medium-range);
16 × surface-to-air missiles from the Sayad 2/3 family and short-range systems;
6 × Abu-Mahdi surface-to-surface missiles.
The vessels are also equipped with a helicopter landing pad and can deploy three high-speed boats, allowing them to support a variety of maritime operations.
The Shahid Soleimani-class ships are widely considered among the most capable warships currently operated by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Navy, making their loss or damage particularly significant for Tehran’s naval capabilities.
Earlier, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said a US submarine sank an Iranian warship, Shahed Solemani sisteship with a torpedo in international waters. The incident marks the first time the US has sunk an enemy vessel with a torpedo since World War II.
