Washington to Examine Russia’s Forced Deportation of Ukrainian Children in Upcoming Senate Hearings

The United States Senate is scheduled to hold hearings concerning the issue of Russia's mass abduction of Ukrainian children.
The announcement was made by the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, via his Telegram on October 30.
Yermak stated that the upcoming hearings represent a significant development in bringing attention to the actions committed against Ukrainian children, including “illegal transfer, militarization, and attempts to deprive them of their Ukrainian identity.”

According to him, the sessions will take place in the Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs of the US Senate.
“Such initiatives strengthen international support for Ukraine and remind us that justice is inevitable. This is the result of systematic international advocacy in the framework of the President's Bring Kids Back UA initiative, which has made the issue of returning our children part of the global agenda,” the Head of the President's Office added.
Preparations for the hearings in Washington are currently in progress.

According to The Hill on October 29, citing independent evaluations, at minimum, 20,000 Ukrainian children have been forcibly removed by Russia during the war, a figure drastically contested by Russian officials who assert the number is closer to 700,000.
Earlier, investigation from Yale University’s Humanitarian Research Lab revealed that Russia is implementing a massive and coordinated system. This system is designed to deport, forcefully indoctrinate, and even subject Ukrainian children to militarization on an unparalleled scale.
The study identified at least 210 facilities across Russia and Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine where children have been moved since the full-scale invasion commenced.
