White House Officially Confirms Biden and Zelenskyy Meeting at G7 in Italy

The White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby stated during an online briefing that Presidents Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet on Thursday, June 13, on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Italy, after which the leaders will hold a joint press conference.

He emphasized that the United States would demonstrate a clear commitment to support Ukraine during the G7 summit.

“We will take bold steps to show Mr. Putin that time is not on his side and that he cannot outlast us, as we support Ukraine’s fight for freedom,” Kirby said.

Kirby emphasized that new measures concerning the frozen Russian assets and their transfer to Ukraine will be unveiled during the summit.

“First, we will announce new steps to unlock the value of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to benefit Ukraine and to help them recover from the destruction that Mr. Putin’s army has caused,” Kirby added.

The G7 summit will take place in Borgo Egnazia, Apulia, Italy, on June 13-15, 2024
