Zelenskyy, Macron, and Allies to Discuss Security Guarantees for Ukraine With Trump

Several European leaders, including France’s Emmanuel Macron and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are set to call US President Donald Trump following a Coalition of the Willing summit to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, Sky News reported on September 3, citing the French presidency.
Around 30 leaders will participate in the discussions, which aim to review the progress on security guarantees for Ukraine.
The French presidency’s concept note, seen by Reuters, emphasized that these guarantees are a “necessary prerequisite for any future peace agreement.”

Zelenskyy is expected to arrive in Paris in the evening of September 3, after spending time in Denmark for talks with Nordic and Baltic leaders.
The discussions come as part of ongoing efforts to secure Ukraine’s defense and stability amid its ongoing war with Russia.
Previously, Volodymyr Zelenskyy had confirmed that the Coalition of the Willing will meet on September 4 to discuss proposed security guarantees for Ukraine, with Kyiv expecting Portugal to take part.
