On April 22, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has not received any official peace proposal from the United States, despite recent media reports suggesting otherwise.
Speaking with journalists, Zelenskyy clarified that while there have been discussions, these should not be interpreted as formal offers.
“These are suggestions, signals, ideas, visions,” Zelenskyy said, referring to the reports. “But they are not an official proposal to Ukraine.”
He emphasized that should an official proposal be presented, Ukraine would respond accordingly. “It’s important to understand: if there is an official proposal, we will immediately respond to it as such — and you will know about it,” Zelenskyy noted.
The President acknowledged that such “signals” exist but questioned whether they represent Russia’s position or a finalized stance from the United States.
On the same day, during a press briefing, Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed the prospects of a potential ceasefire with Russia, affirming that Ukraine is prepared to enter negotiations with Russia in any format once a ceasefire is established. He also opposed the reported US willingness to recognize Russian control of Crimea.
