President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded to the invitation of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico for a meeting, proposing Fico comes to Kyiv this week.

Fico initially proposed a meeting near the Slovak-Ukrainian border to discuss the suspension of Russian gas transit. He suggested that Zelenskyy could travel to Slovakia via a direct rail link between Kyiv and Košice.

In his statement, Fico emphasized that his goal is to resolve the gas transit issue “without escalating tensions.”

In response, Zelenskyy posted a brief reply on social media platform X: “Okay. Come to Kyiv on Friday.”

Earlier, Fico called Zelenskyy a “beggar and blackmailer” while also mentioning grievances linked to former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

In response, Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed these comments, highlighting that Slovak Prime Minister Fico had turned down Ukraine’s offer to assist in mitigating the impact of the suspension of Russian gas supplies. On January 12, Fico reiterated his stance, stating that he would not reply to Zelenskyy’s message in order to prevent further escalation of tensions.
