Zelenskyy: The Rhetoric of "Sit Down and Listen" Does Not Work With Us
There has been constructive engagement between Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the future US President Donald Trump, with the Ukrainian side having the opportunity to clearly and persuasively present its stance on the vision for peace.
This was reported by Suspilne, citing its interview with Zelenskyy.
"We are an independent country. Throughout this war, both our people and I personally, in negotiations with the US, with Trump, with Biden, and with European leaders, have shown that the rhetoric of 'sit down and listen' does not work with us," Zelenskyy said. “The foundation we stand on was heard by him [Trump]. I didn't hear anything against our position."
At the same time, according to Zelenskyy, "the war would end sooner" under Trump's administration.
"For us, just peace is very important, so that we don’t feel like we lost our best for the injustice that was imposed on us. The war will end, but there is no exact date. Certainly, with the policies of the team that will soon lead the White House, the war will end sooner. This is their approach, their promise to their society, and it’s also very important to them," Zelenskyy stated.
On November 15, President-elect Donald Trump stated his administration would focus on Russia's war against Ukraine.
