Zelenskyy To Lindsey Graham: The President of Ukraine Won’t Be Elected in Washington

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy pushed back against U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham’s remarks suggesting he should resign, emphasizing that Ukraine’s leadership is determined by its citizens, not foreign politicians according to Fox news, on February 28.
“I can give Lindsey Graham Ukrainian citizenship, and he will become a citizen of our country. And then his voice will be more significant… The President of Ukraine will not be elected at Lindsey Graham’s home, but in Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said in an interview with foreign journalists.
His comments came in response to Graham’s criticism following Zelenskyy’s meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump. Graham claimed that Zelenskyy had “behaved terribly” during their conversation and suggested that he “either needs to resign and send somebody over that we can do business with, or he needs to change.”
Zelenskyy also noted that holding elections alone is not enough, implying that barring him from running would require negotiations.
Earlier, at the “Securing Our Future” Summit in London on March 2, a preliminary agreement was reportedly reached to prioritize support for and strengthening of Ukraine’s Armed Forces as the first level of security guarantees.
