It would take 100,000 peacekeepers to maintain stability between Ukraine and Russia, and Ukrainian military officials have already mapped out a deployment plan for allies.

According to RBC-Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement during his visit to the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant on February 13.

“This isn’t about 5,000–7,000 troops. I instructed our military to calculate and mark the necessary points on a map. We’ve already prepared it. If needed, I can present it in Munich—not too openly, of course. But it’s clear that we would need 100,000 personnel, not just 5,000,” Zelenskyy stated.

He emphasized that a ceasefire is impossible without concrete security guarantees. These could include Ukraine’s NATO membership, arms transfers, nuclear deterrence, or another form of a deterrent package.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that the deployment of European peacekeepers in Ukraine would be a key topic of discussion at the Munich Security Conference, scheduled for February 14-16.

In an interview with The Guardian published on February 12, Zelenskyy stated that if Ukraine is not admitted into NATO, an alternative would be the presence of Alliance forces on Ukrainian territory. He emphasized that Ukraine’s military should match Russia’s in size and capability.
