“Compliance or Consequence”: Russian Troops Refuse Surrender, Ukraine Clears Their Dugout

Operators from Ukraine's 6th Rangers Regiment, part of the Special Operations Forces (SOF), raided a Russian position along the eastern operational axis, clearing a dugout after its defenders refused an offer to surrender.

The SOF reported the operation in a post on its official Telegram channel on September 23, noting that operators infiltrated the mission area covertly before identifying the position.

The SOF confirmed the raid's results:

• One Russian serviceman was killed at the position;

• weapons and documents seized from the site.

The unit described its approach to such operations as "compliance or consequence," explaining that a Russian position is given only one chance to surrender. When that choice is refused, the SOF indicated, the decision on what happens next rests with the operators.

The same regiment carried out a comparable raid in mid-August, when operators infiltrated a Russian position and again offered its defenders the chance to surrender.

The offer was declined, and the position was cleared, leaving one Russian serviceman dead and three others taken prisoner, with weapons, documents and communications equipment seized in the process.
