Just a day earlier, Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian Su-24M combat aircraft and four pieces of airfield equipment at the Saky military airfield in temporarily occupied Crimea, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on August 22.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s strikes are intended to systematically weaken Russia’s military infrastructure and diminish the economic resources supporting its war effort.
