Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,540 Troops, 52 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia lost an estimated 1,540 troops, three tanks, and 52 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on October 6.
The latest figures bring Russia’s estimated personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,544,260.

Russian forces also lost seven armored combat vehicles, raising the cumulative total to 25,494, while three additional tanks brought estimated tank losses to 12,396. Another 52 artillery systems were recorded as lost, pushing the overall figure to 50,785, while two multiple-launch rocket systems brought that category to 2,184.
Ukraine also reported 1,891 operational-tactical UAVs lost over the latest reporting period, raising the cumulative estimate to 549,986. Seven unmanned ground systems were also recorded as lost, bringing their total to 2,866.
Russia’s estimated aviation losses remained unchanged at 443 aircraft and 356 helicopters, while air defense losses stayed at 1,688 systems. Cruise missile losses remained at 5,126, with naval losses unchanged at 35 ships and boats and two submarines.

Another 566 vehicles and fuel tankers were recorded as lost, bringing Russia’s cumulative total in that category to 158,551. Ukraine also reported two additional pieces of special equipment, raising the total to 4,795.
Fighting remained intense across the front, with Ukrainian forces recording 184 combat engagements during the latest reporting period.
Earlier, reports emerged that Russia lost ground in September while suffering more than 46,000 casualties—its worst monthly toll of 2026—as Ukrainian counteroffensives erased months of Russian gains.
