Daily Update: Russia Loses 1,660 Troops, 75 Artillery Systems, and 1,728 UAVs in One Day

Russian forces lost an estimated 1,660 personnel over the past day, along with 75 artillery systems and 1,728 operational-tactical UAVs, according to figures released by Ukraine’s General Staff on September 21.

The latest figures bring Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,519,650.

In addition to personnel and drone losses, the General Staff recorded the loss of five Russian tanks and four armored combat vehicles over the previous 24 hours. Russian forces also lost three multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS), three air defense systems, 516 vehicles and fuel tankers, 17 unmanned ground vehicles, and 13 pieces of special equipment.

According to the General Staff, Russia’s cumulative equipment losses have reached 12,361 tanks, 25,365 armored combat vehicles, 50,142 artillery systems, 2,149 MLRS, 1,662 air defense systems, and 527,693 operational-tactical UAVs.

Recorded losses also include 442 aircraft, 356 helicopters, 5,111 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, and two submarines. The General Staff estimates that Russia has also lost 151,861 vehicles and fuel tankers, 2,712 unmanned ground vehicles, and 4,729 pieces of special equipment since February 2022.

The strike came amid continued intense fighting across Ukraine, with 238 combat engagements recorded over the past day.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has continued targeting Russian military and energy infrastructure. Overnight on September 20, Ukrainian strike drones and cruise missiles targeted the Moscow Oil Refinery in Kapotnya, triggering a large fire at the facility.
