Daily Update: Russia Loses 920 Troops, 3 Tanks, and 60 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russian occupation forces lost another 920 troops, three tanks, and 60 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on May 20.

According to the latest figures, Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, have reached approximately 1,352,070.

Ukraine’s military also reported the destruction of two armored combat vehicles, three multiple launch rocket systems, two air defense systems, six ground robotic systems, and 1,873 operational-tactical drones over the past day.

Russian logistics losses continued to rise as well, with 268 vehicles and fuel tankers destroyed, along with four pieces of special equipment.

Overall, Russian equipment losses reported by Ukraine now include 11,943 tanks, 24,586 armored combat vehicles, 42,400 artillery systems, 1,795 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,388 air defense systems, 436 aircraft, 353 helicopters, 301,072 operational-tactical drones, 4,632 cruise missiles, 33 ships and boats, and two submarines.

The General Staff added that 250 combat engagements took place along the front line over the past day as Ukrainian forces continued to repel Russian attacks across multiple sectors.

Earlier, reports emerged that Russia’s prison population has fallen to its lowest level since the early 2000s, with officials attributing part of the decline to the recruitment of inmates for military service in Ukraine.

The figures indicate that Russia’s prison population has decreased by approximately 183,000 people during the course of the war.
