A family of three was killed in Kyiv during Russia's large-scale missile attack on July 6 after a residential building in the city's Podilskyi district collapsed, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said.

According to Kyiv24, rescue workers recovered the bodies of a husband, wife, and their child from beneath the rubble of the destroyed apartment block.

Reacting to the tragedy, Sybiha issued the appeal in a statement on X, describing the strike as another example of Russia's continued campaign of ballistic missile terror against Ukrainian civilians.

“This was a horrific night in Kyiv. Over 20 ballistic missiles. At least 11 killed and dozens injured, including children. Protect Ukrainian children from Russian ballistic terror! No task is more urgent. This is our main message to the NATO summit this week,” Sybiha wrote.

According to the foreign minister, Russian President Vladimir Putin was sending a clear signal ahead of the alliance's meeting.

“Putin’s message to Ankara is simple: he is going to point ballistic missiles at sleeping children and continue the murder as long as he can,” Sybiha said.

He stressed that PAC-3 interceptor missiles were specifically designed to defend civilians against ballistic missile attacks and noted that thousands of such interceptors remain in stockpiles around the world for potential future threats.

“But the threats in Ukraine are not potential! Russian missiles are killing people every week. Ukraine is currently the only country in the world facing ballistic attacks every single week. The means of protection from this terror need to be here. And we need all decisions on air defense now, not later. Because for us, the time is measured in human lives,” he wrote.

Overnight July 6, Russia carried out a massive overnight missile and drone attack against Ukraine on July 6, inflicting extensive damage across Kyiv. The bombardment triggered numerous fires, damaged residential and commercial properties, and trapped residents inside a multi-story apartment building in the capital's Podilskyi district.

The number of people killed in Russia's attack on Kyiv has increased to 12, while 49 others have been reported injured, including five children, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service.
