From Vampire Bombers to Shahed Hunters: Ukraine’s Drone War Visits to Berlin

Ukraine’s combat-tested drone industry arrived in Berlin with a message Europe could not miss: technologies forged on Ukraine’s front lines—from Vampire bombers and Shrike FPV strike drones to P1-SUN Shahed interceptors—are increasingly shaping the future of European defense.
Ukrainian defense-tech company SkyFall showcased its combat-tested drone systems at ILA Berlin Air Show 2026, bringing the Vampire heavy bomber, the P1-SUN interceptor, and Shrike FPV drones to one of Europe’s biggest aerospace and defense platforms.
SkyFall took part in the Berlin exhibition on June 10, according to a press release sent to UNITED24 Media. The company presented unmanned systems developed from Ukraine’s real battlefield experience and constant analysis of modern combat needs.

ILA Berlin is one of the world’s major aerospace exhibitions, bringing together leading aircraft, space, and defense technology manufacturers. This year’s participants included Airbus, Rheinmetall, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Leonardo, and other global aerospace and defense companies.
As part of the exhibition program, SkyFall carried out demonstration flights of its Vampire heavy bomber and P1-SUN interceptor drone. The showcase was attended by delegations from Germany, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, as well as representatives of the European Commission, military officials, and defense industry specialists from Europe and NATO countries.

Vampire: Ukraine’s heavy bomber drone
During the flight program, the Vampire drone carried out a series of demonstration flights in different mission scenarios, ranging from cargo delivery to specialized operations in difficult conditions.

SkyFall describes Vampire as one of its flagship systems. The heavy bomber drone is known on the battlefield by the nickname “Baba Yaga,” a name Russian forces have used for the platform because of its night-time strike role.
According to the company, Vampire drones became one of the most effective systems on the front in 2025 and formed a major part of Ukraine’s expanding unmanned strike capability.
The Russians report that the Ukrainian ZAL-14 (ЗАЛ-14) bomb contains 10 kg of explosive and forms an EFP (Explosively Formed Projectile) that penetrates a meter of concrete.

P1-SUN: the Shahed interceptor
SkyFall also demonstrated the P1-SUN, a drone interceptor designed to counter Russian Shahed-type attack drones.
The P1-SUN was shown as part of SkyFall’s broader effort to develop systems that respond directly to the most urgent threats Ukraine faces in the air: mass drone attacks, long-range strikes, and the need for scalable interception tools.
The company also displayed its communications systems and other components designed to support modern drone operations.

Shrike: FPV drone for the front
At its exhibition stand, SkyFall presented several versions of its Shrike FPV drones.
The Shrike line reflects the battlefield role FPV drones have taken in Ukraine’s defense: low-cost, flexible, fast-adapted platforms used for precision strikes, reconnaissance support, and direct tactical impact on Russian forces and equipment.

SkyFall said its systems are built around practical frontline needs rather than laboratory assumptions, with designs shaped by combat use and feedback from Ukrainian defenders.
The company says Ukrainian forces using SkyFall drones have destroyed Russian manpower and equipment worth tens of billions of dollars.
SkyFall is a Ukrainian defense technology company that develops and manufactures the Vampire heavy bomber drones, Shrike FPV drones, P1-SUN Shahed interceptors, communications systems, and components designed for frontline use.

By bringing Vampire, P1-SUN, and Shrike to ILA Berlin, SkyFall positioned Ukraine’s drone industry not only as a wartime necessity but as a growing part of Europe’s defense technology future.
Earlier, reports emerged that Russia’s inability to mass-produce its own heavy bomber drones has reportedly pushed its forces to build an improvised repair network for captured Ukrainian VAMPIRE drones.
