Rare North Korean MLRS Makes It to Ukraine—Then Meets a Ukrainian Drone, Video

Ukrainian forces destroyed a rare North Korean Type-75 multiple-launch rocket system that Russia had deployed to the front, Ukraine’s 40th Separate Artillery Brigade reported on September 11.

The brigade released footage showing the unusual system being located before a Ukrainian drone was sent toward the position and struck the launcher directly.

The Type-75 is rarely seen on the Ukrainian battlefield, making the confirmed appearance of the North Korean system particularly notable.

The launcher carries 12 rocket tubes. According to the 40th Brigade, each rocket weighs roughly 18 kilograms, including a warhead of approximately 1.5 kilograms.

Russia has increasingly turned to North Korea for military support as its own stocks of ammunition and equipment have been depleted during years of war against Ukraine.

Pyongyang has already supplied Moscow with large quantities of artillery ammunition, ballistic missiles and other military materiel, while North Korean equipment has gradually begun appearing on the battlefield as well.

The Type-75 provides another example of that growing dependence.

Previously, reports emerged that Russia deployed approximately 8,500 North Korean troops, including 400 drone operators, to its Kursk region, including hundreds of trained drone operators who could be used in reconnaissance and attacks against Ukraine.
