Russia Hunted the Barracudas With Lancets—Ukrainian FPV Drones Rose From the Water

Ukrainian Marines have used FPV drones launched from Barracuda uncrewed surface vessels for the first time to strike Russian positions near occupied Zaliznyi Port in Ukraine’s Kherson region, the 40th Separate Marine Brigade reported on July 19.

During the operation, the Barracuda boats came under intense Russian fire as they moved toward the designated drone-launch area.

Russian forces used four Lancet loitering munitions against one of the vessels, ultimately destroying it. The remaining Barracudas nevertheless reached their assigned position and completed the mission.

After conducting additional reconnaissance, Ukrainian operators launched FPV drones from the boats toward Russian targets on shore.

The strikes reportedly hit Russian logistics and military equipment, concealed positions, and concentrations of personnel near Zaliznyi Port.

Previously, reports emerged that Ukrainian uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) were observed carrying a previously unseen combination of weapons, including portable air-defense systems, in what appears to be a shift toward lighter and more flexible combat configurations.
