Russia Loses 1,190 Troops and 1,738 UAVs in One Day: War Losses Update

Russian forces lost an estimated 1,190 troops, two tanks, and 50 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on August 19.

The latest figures bring Russia’s total estimated personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, to approximately 1,471,160.

According to the General Staff, Russia’s cumulative equipment losses are estimated at 12,276 tanks, including two over the past day; 25,162 armored combat vehicles; and 48,205 artillery systems, including 50 destroyed during the latest reporting period.

Russian forces also lost three multiple launch rocket systems, bringing the total to 2,043, as well as 19 UGVs, with cumulative losses in that category reaching 2,311.

Ukraine reported the destruction of 1,738 operational-tactical UAVs over the past 24 hours, raising Russia’s cumulative losses in that category to 469,197.

The General Staff also reported 427 Russian vehicles and fuel tankers destroyed during the day, bringing the cumulative total to 136,318, along with one piece of special equipment, for a total of 4,548.

No additional Russian armored combat vehicles, air defense systems, aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, ships, boats, or submarines were recorded as destroyed during the reporting period. Russia’s cumulative losses in those categories remain at 25,162 armored combat vehicles, 1,577 air defense systems, 439 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 5,010 cruise missiles, 35 ships and boats, and two submarines.

Ukraine’s General Staff recorded 239 combat engagements across the entire front line over the past 24 hours.

Earlier, reports emerged that Ukraine’s Armed Forces are inflicting losses on Russia worth several times more than the cost of the weapons used to cause them, according to data tracked by the Mission Control module of Ukraine’s DELTA battlefield management system.

According to Mission Control data for June, every $1 Ukraine spent on engaging Russian targets produced approximately $5 in estimated losses for Russia.
