Russia Loses 1,420 Troops, Fighter Jet, Six Air Defense Systems in One Day

Russian forces sustained an additional 1,420 personnel casualties over the past 24 hours, while Ukraine’s military reported the destruction of one aircraft, six air defense systems, 85 artillery systems, and three tanks, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on July 18.

The General Staff estimated Russia’s total personnel losses since the start of its full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, at approximately 1,427,410 troops killed or wounded.

The latest daily update also said Ukrainian forces destroyed 10 armored combat vehicles, three multiple launch rocket systems, 11 ground robotic platforms, 1,914 operational-tactical drones, five cruise missiles, 526 military vehicles and fuel tankers, and four units of special equipment over the reporting period.

According to the Ukrainian military’s cumulative estimates, Russia has now lost 12,151 tanks, 24,956 armored combat vehicles, 46,169 artillery systems, 1,946 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,502 air defense systems, 438 aircraft, 354 helicopters, 1,943 ground robotic systems, 414,798 operational-tactical UAVs, 4,914 cruise missiles, 34 warships and boats, two submarines, 121,742 military vehicles and fuel tankers, and 4,428 pieces of special equipment.

Ukraine’s General Staff also reported that 276 combat engagements took place along the front line during the reporting period.

According to the military, the heaviest fighting occurred on the Pokrovsk and Huliaipole axes, where Ukrainian forces repelled 43 and 31 Russian assaults, respectively. Over the same period, Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck 20 Russian troop concentration areas, three artillery systems, and five drone command posts, the General Staff said.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck a Russian FSB Border Guard Service Project 10410 Svetlyak-class patrol ship in the temporarily occupied Crimean port of Kerch, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
