Russian Attack Destroys Olena Zelenska Foundation Warehouse, Threatening Aid Deliveries Across Ukraine

A warehouse operated by the Olena Zelenska Foundation was completely destroyed in a Russian attack on Kyiv on the morning of September 17.

The Foundation announced the loss in a Facebook post published the same day. The facility burned to the ground, though no one was injured.

The organization thanked emergency crews for their work at the site. "Most importantly—none of the people were hurt," the post stated, crediting units of Ukraine's State Emergency Service for their speed and professionalism.

The warehouse held the aid the Foundation had purchased and received from partners for distribution to children, families, and institutions across Ukraine. Destroyed stock included generators, household appliances, laptops, tablets, e-readers, and medical equipment, the post noted. 

The supplies had been earmarked to support children's schooling, educational facilities, and hospitals, the Foundation added.

The Olena Zelenska Foundation was established by Ukraine's first lady, Olena Zelenska, the wife of the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. It funds education, healthcare, and humanitarian programs for Ukrainians affected by the war.

The Foundation stated that its team was already rebuilding its logistics network and warned that some deliveries could arrive later than planned. It apologized to recipients awaiting the aid. "We continue working,"  the Facebook post concluded.

The strike extended a wave of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital in recent weeks. On September 8, ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones killed two people and injured 12 in Kyiv, damaging residential buildings, a private school, and warehouse facilities across at least five districts. 

A week earlier, on September 1, a mass barrage killed 12 people nationwide—among them an Indian citizen with strikes on Kyiv hitting apartment buildings, a railway depot, and businesses.
