Russian drones struck the postal operator Nova Poshta  depot No. 6 in Kharkiv three times on May 19, causing fires across a total area of 120 square meters.

The strikes occurred in the city's Novobavarskyi district in Kharkiv region at 00:10, 19:50, and 20:25, using what regional prosecutors have preliminarily identified as Geran-2 unmanned aerial vehicles, according to Suspilne Kharkiv.

No employees were injured in the attacks, and the company is currently assessing the structural damage and the extent of the ruined cargo.

"The company has already rebuilt logistics routes so that customers receive their parcels without delays. We will definitely compensate for the loss of shipments damaged by the fire. In the near future, we will contact each owner of such parcels and provide details of the reimbursement," Nova Poshta stated.

The State Emergency Service reported that Russia launched a second drone strike while firefighters were actively putting out the initial blaze. The resulting blast wave damaged the windshield of a fire tanker, but the rescue crew escaped injury because they had already moved to a bomb shelter.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces have targeted Nova Poshta terminals in the Kharkiv region at least nine times.

This strike reflects a broader pattern of recent Russian attacks across the region, which just weeks earlier included a devastating assault on civilian infrastructure outside the regional capital.

During the morning of May 4, 2026, a Russian missile strike targeted the town of Merefa in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, killing six people and injuring 24 others. The missile struck a roadway at approximately 9:35 a.m., causing immediate fatalities on the scene, while two severely injured victims later died in the hospital.

The attack caused widespread damage to civilian infrastructure, including residential buildings, local shops, a food establishment, a vehicle repair facility, and private cars.
