Russian forces struck the city of Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs (KABs) overnight, injuring at least 24 people, including two children, government officials reported on August 10.
Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, reported that the number of injured rose throughout the day, reaching 24 by early afternoon.

Among the injured is a 10-year-old girl who was hospitalized in serious condition, according to the regional prosecutor’s office, which said the number of casualties was still being clarified. Authorities have opened an investigation into the strike as a war crime.
According to Fedorov, the daytime KAB strike damaged a five-story residential building, several vehicles, and a private house. Cars and part of the building’s roof caught fire; Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (DSNS) later reported that firefighters had extinguished the blazes.
The strike also knocked out power to roughly 7,500 consumers in Zaporizhzhia, according to Andrii Stasevskyi, head of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo energy company.

“The situation is under control, and crews have already been sent to address the consequences of the shelling. Provided the security situation remains stable, we plan to restore power supply by 5:00 p.m.,” he said.
Russian forces have repeatedly targeted Zaporizhzhia and its surrounding district in recent days. Russian drone strikes recently wounded at least three civilians in separate attacks on vehicles near villages of Pidhirne, Mykilske, and Novoivanivka, according to Fedorov.
Guided aerial bombs also hit the district that day, destroying a house in Yuliivka and damaging residential and non-residential buildings, including a school, in the Matviivka community.
