Russian Drone and Bomb Attacks Injure Three, Damage School and Homes in Zaporizhzhia Region

Russian forces carried out a series of drone strikes on civilian vehicles across Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region on the morning of August 6, wounding at least three people in the separate attacks.

The strikes were reported by the regional outlet Akzent, citing Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration.

Fedorov's administration logged several drone attacks on civilian cars over the course of the morning, alongside separate guided-bomb strikes elsewhere in the district.

The three vehicle strikes hit separate locations:

• near the village of Pidhirne, a drone struck a car, wounding a 39-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman;

• in Mykilske, a drone damaged a vehicle and farm outbuildings, causing no reported casualties;

• in Novoivanivka, a drone hit a passenger car and wounded its 45-year-old driver.

All three of the wounded are receiving medical treatment, the regional military administration indicated. Emergency crews continued working across the affected settlements as officials clarified the extent of the damage.

FPV drones are small, operator-piloted quadcopters flown using a live onboard camera feed, allowing the pilot to steer the aircraft onto a specific target.

Akzent noted that the system allows Russian crews to precisely hit individual cars, even as the vehicles move along roads between populated areas. Each drone carries a small explosive charge, leaving unprotected civilian transport especially vulnerable.

Russian aircraft also struck the district with guided aerial bombs. In Yuliivka, Zaporizhzhia region, a bomb destroyed a residential house. An 84-year-old local resident may have been trapped beneath the rubble, and emergency services were dispatched as officials worked to clarify his fate.

In a separate statement on his official Telegram channel, Fedorov reported a distinct guided-bomb attack on the Matviivka community.

"Russian KABs damaged residential and non-residential buildings in the Matviivka community. An educational facility was also damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties," he wrote.

FPV strikes on civilian vehicles around Zaporizhzhia have grown more frequent in recent months. In late June, a Russian FPV drone struck a passenger minibus in the city of Zaporizhzhia, killing three civilians and wounding eight others, including a child.
