Russian Tank Thought It Was Hidden—Ukrainian Drone Crews Burned It Anyway

Ukrainian troops from the 154th Brigade located and destroyed a heavily camouflaged Russian tank during a wider series of strikes that also hit artillery, electronic warfare equipment, and more than 200 battlefield shelters, the brigade reported on September 9.

The tank was among the most notable targets. Despite being carefully concealed, Ukrainian reconnaissance located the vehicle and guided a strike that destroyed it.

The brigade also reported hitting seven Russian artillery systems in recent weeks, destroying one and damaging six more.

A Russian armored vehicle was also struck, while several motorcycles, an electronic warfare system and antennas positioned at launch sites used by Russian drone operators were destroyed or damaged.

Russian field positions have made up an even larger share of the brigade’s recent target list.

The 154th Brigade said its troops have struck more than 200 shelters, demonstrating that increasingly elaborate camouflage and prepared positions do not necessarily prevent detection by Ukrainian drones.

During the first week of September alone, the brigade also reported hitting 28 Russian troops.

Previously, Ukrainian FPV drone operators from the MARA Unmanned Systems Battalion destroyed what the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade described as possibly one of the last Russian infantry fighting vehicles remaining in its area of responsibility on the Lyman front.
