UK Allocates $73M Winter Support Package for Ukraine

The British government has announced a 54 million pound ($73 million) assistance package to strengthen Ukraine's resilience ahead of winter, British Energy Secretary Ed Miliband said during his first visit to Ukraine, as reported by European Pravda.
This funding for energy and humanitarian needs aims to support ordinary citizens during the winter months as Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine continues and Moscow tries to use the cold as a tool of pressure.

The contribution allocates 20 million pounds ($27 million) to strengthen energy security. These funds will cover mobile emergency repair crews working on the power grid following attacks, back-up generators, solar power setups for emergency outages, and new technologies designed to help diversify energy supplies across the country.
An additional 34 million pounds ($46 million) focuses on protecting communities, securing heating, and maintaining water infrastructure for families before cold weather arrives.
This part of the package includes direct financial support provided alongside local partners and international agencies, such as UNICEF, UNHCR, and the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Previously, during his visit to Kyiv on the 975th anniversary of the founding of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Jacques Gerber, the Swiss Federal Council’s Delegate for Ukraine, announced on X that Switzerland and UNESCO were allocating $730,000 to protect and restore the monastery complex following damage caused by a Russian strike on June 15, 2026.
