The strikes targeted Russian command posts near the occupied city of Luhansk and the settlement of Kurakhove in Ukraine’s Donetsk region.

According to the General Staff, attacks on command facilities are intended to disrupt Russian military command structures and complicate coordination between units on the battlefield.

Ukrainian forces also targeted Russian military supply depots near Yani Kapu in temporarily occupied Crimea and Chystiakove in the Donetsk region.

The General Staff emphasized that strikes against logistics facilities are aimed at destroying Russian military supplies and disrupting the delivery of essential equipment and resources to frontline units.

The operations coincided with separate Ukrainian drone strikes against telecommunications infrastructure in temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk, where facilities providing mobile communications, internet access, and data transmission services reportedly sustained extensive damage.

According to the OSINT monitoring channel Exilenova+, Ukrainian forces struck a data center operated by telecommunications provider Ugletelecom in occupied Donetsk on October 20.

The following night, on October 21, another drone attack targeted a building in occupied Luhansk housing mobile network operator Lugacom and the Telecommunications Services Center.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have also disclosed details of a separate military initiative involving underground operations, highlighting another aspect of their activities amid continued fighting.

On October 21, Ukraine’s 2nd Khartiia Corps of the National Guard released the first footage of Operation VELES, a joint underground mission conducted in cooperation with other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

Khartiia has not disclosed the operation’s location, objectives, duration, or current progress. The footage nevertheless provides a rare look at underground military activities as Ukrainian forces continue adapting their tactics to a battlefield increasingly shaped by drone warfare.
