Ukrainian paratroopers have destroyed entrances to a gas pipeline used by Russian infantry to conceal their movements in the Sumy direction, while also targeting Russian military vehicles, shelters, and drone positions.

According to the 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade of Ukraine’s 8th Air Assault Corps, Ukrainian forces identified sections of the pipeline that Russian troops had been using to move undetected before striking them with heavy bomber drones and unmanned ground vehicles.
The brigade released footage of the operation, showing Ukrainian troops targeting the pipeline entrances as part of efforts to disrupt Russian movements and logistics in the area.
In addition to the pipeline, Ukrainian forces struck several other Russian military targets, including cars and motorcycles used to transport supplies to frontline units.
The operation also targeted Russian troop shelters and concealed positions used by operators of strike drones.
“A jazz evening in the Sumy direction. The 71st Separate Airmobile Brigade of the 8th Air Assault Corps is blowing up a gas pipeline using heavy bomber drones and unmanned ground vehicles. The audience that showed up without tickets was left impressed. Let’s listen to the striking improvisation of our pilots,” the brigade wrote in a caption accompanying the footage.

The operation follows earlier reports of Russian forces attempting to exploit gas pipeline infrastructure to infiltrate Ukrainian positions in the Sumy region.
According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on September 21, Russian troops had resumed using the Urengoy-Pomary-Uzhhorod gas pipeline, which connects Ukraine’s Sumy region with the Russian city of Sudzha in Kursk region, as a concealed route for infantry movements.
Russian forces reportedly carried out at least two infiltration attempts through the pipeline over the preceding week but failed to secure any territorial gains.

Similar tactics have also been reported in other sectors of the frontline, including near Kupiansk in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, where Russian troops allegedly used civilians to conceal their movements through pipeline infrastructure.
On September 28, Ukraine’s 2nd Khartia Corps reported that Russian forces had forced children and elderly civilians into a gas pipeline near Kupiansk, while suspected Russian soldiers wearing civilian clothing moved alongside them, allegedly using the group as cover during Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive.
