Russia Used Yet Another Pipe to Advance in Ukraine—Ends With 40 Dead Soldiers, Video

Russian forces attempted to use a major gas pipeline as a covert route to launch an assault on Ukrainian positions in the Kupiansk sector, but the operation was detected and crushed by Ukrainian airborne troops, the 77th Airmobile Brigade “Naddnipryanska” reported on January 5.
According to the brigade, Russian troops tried to exploit the Soyuz gas pipeline to move unseen and concentrate forces ahead of an assault north of Novoplatonivka, advancing toward Nova Kruhlakivka and Zahryzove in the Kharkiv region.

The attempted breakthrough involved around 50 Russian soldiers, Ukrainian officials said.
Ukrainian forces identified the maneuver early and coordinated with neighboring units to block the assault before it could gain momentum. At least 40 Russian troops were confirmed killed, the brigade reported.
The attack failed to achieve any of its objectives, and Ukrainian commanders said the situation in their area of responsibility has since been stabilized.
Despite the setback, Russian forces continue to operate in small infiltration groups, attempting to slip between Ukrainian positions. Those movements remain under constant surveillance and are being neutralized as they emerge, the brigade said.
