Ukraine Says “Russians Drowned in the Same Pipe” After Turning Kupiansk Pipeline Into Deadly Trap

The Ukrainian command reported on September 19 that Kupyansk remains a key strategic objective for Moscow’s forces, but attempts to push forward have been met with heavy losses, Ukraine’s Operational Command North reported on September 19.
Russian troops concentrated near Radkivka and Holubivka, but when they tried to advance through a damaged gas pipeline, it was flooded—cutting off their route and trapping the Russian soldiers.

“Russians drowned in the same pipe,” the command stated.
Russian units also attempted to cross the Oskil River using boats, but most were destroyed by Ukrainian artillery, mortars, and FPV drones.
Operational Command North said Russian infantry groups are now moving in small detachments, often wearing civilian clothes—something Ukrainian officials condemned as yet another war crime by Russia.

Ukrainian counter-sabotage units continue to operate in the forests, residential areas, and outskirts of Kupyansk, where they are blocking and eliminating enemy groups. Captured Russian soldiers have testified to the lack of clear combat orders and coordination among the assault units.
“Combat actions are dynamic. It is too early to make claims of ‘full control,’” the command stressed.
Earlier, reports emerged that Russian forces tried to use a gas pipeline north of Kupiansk to infiltrate Ukrainian positions, but the route has been damaged and remains under the control of Ukrainian defenders.
