Ukrainian Drones Hit One of Russia’s Biggest Oil Refineries and Ozon Logistics Hub in Saratov

Ukrainian strike drones attacked Russia’s Saratov overnight on September 11, with fires reported at a local oil refinery and an Ozon logistics center, according to the Exilenova+ OSINT project.

Videos and images shared by local residents showed large fires and columns of smoke rising from both sites following the attack.

Russian e-commerce company Ozon confirmed that its logistics center and delivery hub in Saratov had been hit. The company said the facility temporarily suspended incoming shipments and deliveries of new orders to customers in Saratov and the surrounding region.

Some existing orders will be canceled, while others are expected to be redirected through neighboring logistics centers, according to the company.

Ukrainian defense company Fire Point stated that its FP-1 long-range drones were used in the strike on the Ozon facility.

According to Exilenova, the Ozon facility began operating in 2024 and covers 85,000 square meters. It is designed to store more than 30 million items and process up to 900,000 orders per day.

A separate fire was reported at the Saratov oil refinery, one of the region’s major industrial facilities. The plant is operated by Russia’s state-controlled oil giant Rosneft, is among the country’s longest-running refining facilities. Its annual processing capacity is estimated at roughly 7 million metric tons of crude oil, while actual throughput stood at around 4.8 million tons in 2023.

The facility primarily refines Urals crude delivered from oil fields in the Saratov and Orenburg regions, producing gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, bitumen, and a range of other petroleum products.

Saratov region Governor Roman Busargin said no casualties had been reported as a result of the attack.

The Saratov strikes came a day after another Ukrainian long-range drone operation targeted Russian infrastructure farther south.

Overnight on September 10, Ukrainian drones struck the Makhachkala International Commercial Seaport on Russia’s Caspian coast, hitting a key transport hub linked to maritime trade with Iran and located about 1,000 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.
