Ukrainian FP-1 Drones Fly Record 3,200 km to Strike Russian Gas Processing Plant

Ukrainian FP-1 long-range drones traveled more than 3,200 kilometers to strike a gas condensate processing facility in Russia’s Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, setting a new reported distance record for the drone, according to Ukrainian defense company Fire Point and the CyberBoroshno OSINT project.

Fire Point said the target was the Novy Urengoy Condensate Preparation for Transport Plant, one of Russia’s largest facilities for processing gas condensate.

The strike also marks a significant increase in the FP-1’s reported reach. The drone initially had a maximum range of about 700 kilometers, compared with the more than 3,200 kilometers covered in the latest operation, substantially expanding the depth at which targets inside Russia can potentially be reached.

“We are erasing the deep rear doctrine from the Russian military vocabulary,” Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh said at MSPO 2026 according to a UNITED24 Media correspondent.

CyberBoroshno reported that the drones specifically struck a de-ethanization gas treatment unit at the facility, operated by Gazprom Pererabotka and located about 18 kilometers from Novy Urengoy.

According to the OSINT project, FP-1 drones reached the Yamalo-Nenets region for the first time, making the facility the most distant target from Ukraine’s state border to have been struck since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Unlike oil refineries frequently targeted in Ukrainian long-range operations, the Novy Urengoy facility is part of Russia’s gas-processing industry. It handles the initial processing of unstable gas condensate into marketable products and receives feedstock from fields in the Nadym-Pur-Taz region, Russia’s largest gas-condensate basin. The plant has a design capacity of approximately 19.5 million tons of feedstock annually.

The unit targeted in the strike processes gases released during the de-ethanization of condensate. These gases contain ethane, a key feedstock for producing ethylene and polyethylene, and are intended to supply the Novy Urengoy Gas Chemical Complex.

The gas chemical complex has a planned production capacity of up to 400,000 tons of low-density polyethylene per year. CyberBoroshno estimated that this represents roughly 10% of Russia’s combined polyethylene and polypropylene production capacity.

According to the OSINT project, damage to the de-ethanization gas treatment unit could disrupt the broader production chain from gas condensate to polyethylene. Without gas treatment, ethane supplies to the Novy Urengoy Gas Chemical Complex could be interrupted, potentially affecting the production of ethylene and polyethylene.

CyberBoroshno noted that even if the plant’s condensate de-ethanization units remain operational, disruption to the gas treatment infrastructure could prevent the resulting gases from being processed and transferred further along the production chain.

The record-range FP-1 strike comes as Fire Point continues to expand its portfolio of domestically developed long-range weapons. The company has also advanced its FP-7 ballistic missile to military trials after completing two earlier rounds of testing, moving the system closer to potential operational deployment.
